HP Color Laserjet CM 1312 MFP / Won't Scan!

Hi guys,

I have been on the phone to HP for days they are blaming my computer but really it doesn't sound right... Brand new iMac, and a brand new CM1312... I have plugged it directly into the back of the computer via the USB the computer sees it and there is no problem with printing... BUT using the HP Scanner software it cannot see the printer via USB... I used the HP Set Up Wizard and when it comes to the screen asking to find the USB or Network printer it can't see it under USB, EVEN THOUGH IT PRINTS VIA USB... Has anyone had this issue before? Am I better off using an ethernet cord?

Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Hello Tom:

I do not have the same printer, so I am fishing a bit.

I have read here that all-in-one devices only print when using the built-in OS X drivers. Those with that particular problem have had some success by doing what you have tried - namely installing the manufacturer's software.

You might try uninstalling the printer, and then starting over with HP's software.

My own printer is Ethernet-connected, but I do that so it is available on my little home network. candidly, I prefer Ethernet connections over USB, but that is a personal preference, not an indictment of USB.

Hi Tom

I have an IMac G5 and recently loaded leopard (os 10.5.4) Immediately my hp3030 all in one laser printer ceased to work. I called HP and they told me that they are not intending to make a driver for this printer and recommended the HP Color Laserjet cm 1312 nfi. I have installed and it will not scan. It prints and copies; does not recognise pc and is continually calibrating! Is this printer going to be a problem? I will send it back if I can't use its features- it is too expensive not to work. Please help- I am wondering what to do.

Hello, I am having exactly the same problem with my CM1312 MFP nfi. I also have a brand new Mac. I feel very hard done by having spent the money for a top scanner and also having been assured that the product is Mac compatible. I have tried reinstalling the HP software several times without any more success. The scanner does work for a few days and then mysteriously stops working. HP do not have a solution. Does anybody know how to resolve this?

I do not have any problem with this printer. Everything (scan, fax, print) is working fine - even using wireless.

May be you can try uninstall the printer from HP Director then install the driver again.

My printer is connected to ethernet port of a wireless router.
I have a G4 (OS 10.3.9) connect by wireless only, and a MacBook (OS 10.4) connect by both wireless and ethernet cable.
