sd card reader

sd card reader

i tried my friends sd card reader but it didn't work... is there a way of using it like downloading something?

or what brand card reader works with macbook?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

I've never heard of an SD card reader that didn't work. It would be more likely an issue with the card itself. It's possible you have an "SD" card reader but the card is a high capacity "SDHC" card. Not all SD card readers can read the newer, larger capacity SDHC cards.

Again, are you certain your card reader supports the SDHC type of cards? My quick search seems to indicate that Lexar only makes cards, not readers. Does the card reader still read standard SD cards? Notl all of the standard SD card readers can read the higher capacity SDHC cards...

Lexar sells (I don't know how many might just be relabelled) a lot of card readers. It's actally pretty easy for any company to purchase a commidity card reader and resell it. Most of Lexar's new ones are compatible with SDHC.

Yeah - I would guess that this is a case where the SHDC card isn't compatible with an older reader that doesn't recognize the SHDC standard.

Hi,

I found an SDHC card reader at Wal*Mart for $12. It is pretty generic, but the package did state it is SDHC compatible. It works perfectly with my MacBook reading and writing an Acer 16G class-6 SDHC card.

Pretty much any SD form factor card that is larger than 2G storage capacity is SDHC.

I bought a SanDisk one for $16 at Best Buy - looks like a USB flash drive with a cap. I don't actually use any SDHC cards, but it functions fine with standard SD cards.
