Before & After Photos: Display scratches removed

Here is the before photo:

Here is how the display looks after 12-15 applications of iCleaner Ultra Pro ($35).

The iCleaner Ultra Pro did a fairly good job, but left visible swirls.

Here is how the display looks after 3 applications of PolyWatch ($7.95):

The PolyWatch polish removed the swirls and the display is nearly a factory finish.

Now, off to find a product that will remove the swirls from the metal back, after polishing with iCleaner Ultra Pro.

I managed similar results with multiple applications of Brasso silver metal polish. I used the product that comes as a tin of alomost cotton wool like material soaked in Brasso. You pull out a lump of the wool and rub it on the front of the ipod. Polish and repeat. A number of application has removed the worst of my scratchs.

Since I kept the original stickie on the front, I only needed to worry about the back. Nice job.

A product I used for the back is "Wenol" metal polish. It's a paste so no fluids to worry about getting into places you don't want it to. There are also some automotive products from 3M, and Meguire's Scratch-X for removing swirlies from paint. Might be worth a look into, just not for a $4.00 price tag.

I just recieved my new Nano ipod on Tuesday (10/4/2005). I already own two others, but I just had to have this one, in black, as well.

It is now Friday and my Nano looks like it is older than the other two ipods I own. It is scratched up all over the front and on the screen as well. I keep in my shirt pocket almost all of the time and I'm shocked at how market up it is in just a few days.

Is this something that others are experiencing as well?

although i have no experience myself, i have heard several reports from users of this forum as well as other friends that a product known as "ice creme" is extremely effective and the company which produces it has also released a polisher for the back that is said to remove scratches. if anyone else tries it, please let me know how it works, more feedback is always a good thing.

sweet.

ordered the poly watch.

hopefully that with my dremmel buffing wheel will remove these eyesores and then the InvisibleSheild will protect it going forward.

sure didn't WANT to spend 30+ more dollars on it, but oh well.

I still think Apples stance towards this issue is a flippant attitude towards it's users. (not to mention the trolls on this forum who do nothing but back apple and bash those of us with concerns)
