Sorry if this is obvious, I just can't find out ...
How to play a selection only (not in the waveform editing window but in the main window)
From one point to another, without to have to hit "stop" ???

Thanks very much in advance

I'm not sure if it exists, but page 449 of the manual lists all the keyboard shortcuts . . . I'd look there.

Sure I did. It doesn't seem to exist. I'm puzzled.

Puzzled that it doesn't exist? I'm not.

    File a [Feature Request|http://www.apple.com/feedback/soundtrackpro.html]

Do you mean, as far as you know, you can't tell Soundtrack Pro to play
from A to B, but instead you always have to hit STOP manually ??

The only "automatic" STOP I can obtain is by defining a project END point (marker)
This is certainly not an easy way to play a selection in multitrack view ...

Maybe "puzzled" is not the right term (sorry for my bad english)
but I find that lack of feature quite unbelievable ...
Protools does it (much more than I'd like to, Protools will stop
at the previously defined selection end and you can't change that
during playback); Logic does it easily ... and so does every
    sequencer and multitrack I know.

I agree it should be there. It doesn't appear to be. It's not the only missing feature, that's why I suggest you file a feature request . . . if enough people do maybe eventually the program will have the features it should.
As far as navigation and editing, It certainly ain't Protools or Logic.

Sure. How do I file a feature request ?

    Thanks

ok, what am I missing here? if I mark a selection in a multitrack project and then press the spacebar the playback loops from in to out repeatedly. if I make a selection in an audio file project and press the spacebar then again the playback loops that selection repeatedly ... as for where to post feedback, Apple's Soundtrack Pro feedback page is linked above

Do you maybe just need to turn "Cycle" on? (press C).
You can also enable the "Link" button in the lower pane's File Editor window so that the cycle region is automatically determined by the selection made in that window.

I don't want a cycle ! I just want a one pass play from one point to another ...
    Simple and single playback between pre-defined in and out points;
You don't always want cycle or loop mode, especially when working on short "distances"
