How do I add metatags to an iweb site

I'm back and with a brand-new question. I am developing a site for a class and am required to add metatags, I know a little about them but can't find anywhere on iweb to begin working with them i.e. titles, descriptions, and keywords. I'm guessing this is something that I'll have to do 3rd party again, but the last 3rd party thing I did for the site worked perfectly, so bring it on. Thanks for any replys and help.

Hi sharkbite,

After you've published your site locate yourpagename.html for the page either on your computer if you publish to a folder or on iDisk if you publish to MobileMe and open with text edit or any other html editor and add meta tags in between the <head></head> section of your html file. A list of meta tags and descriptions can be found by performing a Google search for meta tags.

Hello, apparently I am missing something. I publish to a folder and then to another web host and would like to add metatags for a description of my page. When I try to open up the html file using TextEdit from the folder I published to, all I am seeing is the page's text and pictures, not the html code? Therefore, I am not seeing where to put the tags. I'll download another html editor if necessary. Sorry if I am being dense. Thanks!

Try using the freeware application iWeb SEO Tool ....

http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool/download/

Note that they have tried to address the problem of having to add your tags every time you publish...

"Just a quick note about iWeb SEO Tool from the developer here.

Yes, each time you publish your iWeb website all of your changes made in iWeb SEO Tool will be overwritten. That's just how iWeb works.

HOWEVER, we did address this as best we can. All of your settings are remembered by iWeb SEO Tool each time you open your website. So all you have to do is press the Apply button for each page. You will see that your previous title tags, meta tags and alternative image text is still there so you DO NOT have to re-enter them."

From Text Edit go to Preferences then click on the Open and Save tab.
Click the checkbox for "Ignore rich text commands in HTML files"

Now when you open the HTML file in Text Edit you will see the HTML code instead of the page's text and pictures as you were seeing before.
