mail app disappeared

mail app disappeared

Help my mail app has disappeared. I am not missing only my mail but my whole application! The mail icon is there but no window appears when I click on it. I do get the menu bar at the top of the screen but that is it. I urgently need my mail - please help.

imac, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Try selecting Message Viewer from Mail's Window menu.

The same thing had happened to me - hence searching for this discussion. Mail.app was running, selecting windows-message viewer had no effect, and i could see that mail.app was present somewhere on my desktop because it appeared in expose. However, i solved it by looking very carefully along the side of my desktop screen... Mail was hiding just outside and was still on the desktop by one pixel. Very irritating, don't know how it happened.
