iPod not connecting to iTunes.

So i plug in my ipod that i just got from my boyfriend cause he got the new one.
Then i download and run iTunes. It restarts my computer and everything is fine.
Now I plug in the iPod and it wont connect with iTunes.

Can someone help me?
