RSS - can't load any RSS feed

I use RSS daily. This afternoon it stopped working. My feeds stopped getting updated, and then I realized I cannot load any RSS feed in Safari.

If for example I try:feed://www.apple.com/main/rss/hotnews/hotnews.rss, I just see a blank safari window, and at the bottom it says... "contacting www.apple.com". It never times out with an error message. It just doesn't seem to be able to get the feed. This is true for all of my feeds, and any new ones I try to view.

RSS works normally in other accounts on my computer, so the problem is local to my account.

I have seen others post here with similar problems, but I can't find any answers for my issue. Anyone have any suggestions?

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Safari 3.1.2

Hello Martin:

Try deleting the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restarting.

You might also reset Safari.

Thanks for the suggestion Barry.

Sorry I forgot to mention in my post that I already tried deleting com.apple.safari.plist (and then restarting safari) and I also tried resetting safari. I also have restarted the computer.

None of these made any difference.

OK, Looks like I solved my problem. I am posting what I did here in case it helps anyone else with the same problem.

+The fix is simple and doesn't hurt any of your RSS subscriptions. Just quit Safari, remove the Database3 file located in ~/Library » Syndication, and then launch Safari again. So I followed this and moved the database3 file out of the ->Library->Syndication folder, restarted Safari, and now RSS seems to be working normally.

By the way, instead of deleting the database3 file,I just moved it to the desktop, until I can confirm that everything is working correctly, and I will delete it later.

Hope this is of some help to you if you are having similar RSS problems in Safari.

I should say that none of the above solutions fixed it (for Safari 3.1.2):
- reseting all
- removing preferences (2 files)
- remove Database3 file

There error is always some version of this:

Safari can’t open the page “feed://feeds.feedburner.com/arstechnica/BAaf”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (Mach error -308 - (ipc/mig) server died)” (NSMachErrorDomain:-308) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

Hi, I am having the same problems, but unfortunately I don't have a Syndication folder (either in my HD Library folder or my Home Library folder). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Had the same here.
Afther I've create the folder /var/folders/ it was working again!!!
