I am looking for the “em dash” though.
Here is some info about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dash#Em_dashiMac 20" G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

If you add the Japaneese QWERTY keyboard to your list of keyboards, you can find it by hitting the ABC button, then the 123 button, then press and HOLD the bottom right .,-/ button. Then slide up to select the dash. After selecting you will be given choices for variants and one being the em dash.
And in case you didn't know, at the same ABC, 123 location, pressing and holding the number 1 and sliding to the left to pick the star...there are a lot of additional symbols such as heart, start, sun, raincloud, etc.

Can be tricky to find though at times. And for sure doesn't make it quick, but at least it is possible.Windows XP Pro, iPhone (1st Gen) | AppleTV
