How Do I Delete 'Color Profiles'?

Hi,

The 'Delete Profile' button in the 'Display' Preference Pane is now always grayed out. I can remove Profiles manually (Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays), and have already repaired the Permissions and checked the disk trying to fix the feature.

Can one simply Trash an individual Profile; and are there any other parts connected to that Profile which have to be trashed, too?

If possible, I would like to get the 'Delete Profile' button working again. Any ideas?

Thanks.

This from Mac Help>Colorsync...

Where are ColorSync profiles located?
To make it easy to share and organize ColorSync profiles, you can put them in several locations on your computer or network.

These are the standard locations for profiles on your computer:

System Profiles: System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
These are the profiles used by the system. You should not attempt modify or delete these profiles. You should not install your own profiles here.

Computer Profiles: Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
This is the recommended place to install new profiles. These profiles are available to all users, and are available to be used by ColorSync Utility.

User Profiles: ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
These profiles are available only to the current user. The tilde (~) character indicates your home folder.

If you are connected to a network, profiles can also be stored here:

/Network/Library/ColorSync/Profiles

CMM's are located here:

/Library/ColorSync/CMMs

To see the location of profiles, click Profiles in the toolbar. Click the black triangle in the top-right corner of the profile list and choose "Group by location."
Some third-party devices or applications store profiles in a different location or as data within the application. For more information, visit the manufacturer's website.

Thanks for investigating further. Following your advice, I replaced the 'Preference Pane,' (displays.prefPane) utilizing 'Pacifist'. I made sure the new version was identical to one I was replacing. It made no difference.

AHA, thanks for the clue David! 🙂

I had done that, but could not delete the ones I made.

It looks like if they're allowed use by other Users you cannot delete them, but if it just allowed to be used by you you can.

Looks like some get put in Library, while the ones you can delete get put in the User Library!

Makes sense now. 🙂
