Experience with iPod nano and iPod socks?

After discussing with the Apple Helpline about the scratches on my nano, they quickly proposed to send my some iPod socks for free in order to protect the nano (is this like implicitely admitting that something went wrong?).

My question: Does anybody have experience with iPod socks and the nano, i.e. do they scratch the nano as well (as somebody on another forum has posted)?

I kept the plastic cover on mine and put it in a sock and that didnt scratch. i replaced the plastic cover w/ a martin shields overlay and still keep the nano in its sock, and havent seen any problems. the socks are cotton, so they might scratch a little bit, but it's still better than no cover.
the combination of the overlay and sock works well for me.

I use the sock with my black nano. It is cotton, and after a week I see miniscule scratches on my nano,, but it's barely noticeable. I've been waiting for my invisible shield, and I think that'll come in today.

Ironically I couldn't wait til the shield came in, but last night I was reading up and got lots of mixed reviews for the invisible shield. Now I'm a little hesistant to use it and might just keep using the sock until I find a nicer case for it.

But the sock does the job. I use another one for my 20Gig, and I might end up using one for my cellphone when that comes back from motorola.

Nano is my first Apple experience. I wish I read all these posts before using it. After 4 days the screen of my nano is so badly scratched that it looks like the Nokia phone which I have used for a year now. My suggestion is Get it protected with isocks, iskin or i-whatever and DO NOT remove the protective plastic shield.

lol, good one James. + for you.

I remember this same thing with the iPod Mini. That was released in February 2004 and there were a huge number of cases by around April. But the mini was announced in January which ment the third party makers had a whole month to design and make cases.

The ironic thing....people didnt need a case for the mini. Its was scratch resistant to begin with, however the nano is damaged by finger acid!!!

PS: James, off topic, but do you use your iPods for different reasons, as im trying to think of ways to justify having three aswell? 🙂
