time and date change on itouch 2nd gen

same here the time changes randomly I noticed it was wrong again tonight and I dont think that I have had it hooked up since the last time I set the clock

I am having the same issue, though it isn't every time.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

1. Close itunes, reopen itunes, THEN connect ipod to sync

Time/date wildcard seems to occur if your computer sleeps, hibernates, or stands by while itunes is open and THEN connected to ipod touch. Also, if computer sleeps, hibernates, or stands by WHILE your ipod touch is connected upon wake the time/date may also go nuts.
Finally, if you undock (maybe even connect disconnect other USB entities), open many CPU intensive programs, or use apps that make your computer "cranky" while itunes is open you may have to:

2. Restart computer, open itunes, THEN connect ipod to sync.

If time is off by one hour exactly or some other measure that doesn't seem completely arbitrary, check your computer time and time zone as well as the time zone you've chosen for your ipod touch then resync with a freshly opened itunes. Otherwise:

3. Try the 5 R's (Recharge, Restart, Reset, Remove, Restore)

Thanks in a nutshell no more sleep etc with Itunes running. sounds like a good workaround until they fix this problem. I am sure however that apple will just blame it on vista and do nothing.

Sorry i am not usually that synical but it seems that I have more problems with Itunes than any other program I use for both work and pleasure and I keep hearing from apple and others that it is Vista's fault.

I can also:

Close iTunes.
Connect iPod.
Open iTunes.

This is similar to #1.

I do sleep/hiberate my computer several times a day while iTunes is running.

Why this should be a prioritized error: When the clock time is wrong the play statistics are not synched to the PC correctly. So if you have smart playlists that rely on Last Played, for example, the playlists are less useful.

Smart Playlists are the only reason I have not switched to another music player.

I tried TellFive's solution -- and it works. I also turned off the option to have iTunes launched every time I docked (in case I just want to charge) and, for my machine, turning off AutoPlay for this device also helped. Thanks TellFive

Restarting itunes does fix but what a pain in the neck.

the first one worked for me...what, itunes cant query the current clock settings when the ipod is connected after the pc has slept? lame-o

what i did i look at my time settings on my pc and it work i hope that s what it is my touch way one day to early and i seen in my pc the same thing so just look at it and see what it do
