IPOD Classic 80gb Says Full But Isn't

Attemped to add some additional songs to my ipod from itunes library and received message advising cannot add all songs ipod is full. I have a classic 80gb device with only 10920 songs. Music is the only thing loaded. It's supposed to hold up to 15,000 songs. One error mentioned emptying the recycle bin; however when I look at the drive letter(E) for the ipod and its folders, there isn't any recycle folder. Any ideas what's wrong?s

With your iPod connected go to iTunes and click on your iPod then go to the overview/summary. Should tell you how much space you have. Maybe your album covers are taking up a lot of space? Also it holds 15,000 songs based on each song being 3 minutes long(3 or 4...not sure). So if you have a 12 minute long song that's 4 out of 15,000...

The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod whilst using it as a hard disk or album artwork. Or sometimes when the iPod data base has become corrupt.

There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but if it's in GBs it's unusually large. This often happens when the iPod data base becomes corrupt.

If the iPod is enabled for disk use, you can look at the folders on the iPod through Explorer or Finder and delete anything you don't want.

Otherwise, see how to restore the iPod to factory settings which will erase the iPods contents and reclaim the used space.

Then reload the music from iTunes.
