Sony XDCAM PDW 1500

Hi

How do I connect my macbook pro laptop, fully updated to the XDCAM PDW 1500 vtr that has dvcam footage shot in PAL SD 25 fps. I have tried all the settings!

Is there any plugins or software I should download?

Thanks

you have a few choices:

a) connect the deck via firewire and set the deck's iLINK setting to AV/C mode and set the remote interface to iLINK .. then log and capture from the deck as if it were a DV tape based device

b) you need to download and install Sony's free XDCAM Transfer app to log and transfer the source clips at faster than real time ... again, connect the deck via firewire, but for this method set the deck's iLINK setting to FAM mode. now launch the app from FCP using File > Import > Sony XDCAM...

c) you can buy and use Flip4Mac's XDCAM component which allows tapeless capture via Ethernet ... connect the deck to your Mac's network and and launch the app from FCP using File > Import > Sony XDCAM (Ethernet) ...

my recommendation would be option b) as this is easily the fastest and most versatile method
