Using both Ethernet AND wireless

I have a TC which joins my network wirelessly, the US Robotics Wireless MAXg ADSL Gateway is in the other room. Everytime, I connect to the ethernet ports (<-->) my MacBook pro in the network settings can see that there is a connection done, but I simply can not connect. I have used the same cable to setup the TC, so I know is not the cable but the TC configuration.
I have had many headaches making it work on manual mode, so I am not keen in disabling and enabling the Ethernet connection.
Does any one has any ideas on how to go about?

In order to use the TC's Ethernet ports for network connectivity, the TC would need to be configured as a remote base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with the US Robotics gateway, not configured to "join an existing wireless network." Unfortunately, very few non-AirPort routers are WDS-compatible with the AirPorts.
