deleting songs from library playlist

Question

deleting songs from library playlist

Can someone please tell me how to delete music from itunes once a song has been imported? I am not sure how to do this. Thanks

Tania,

Click on the song and hit the delete key. It'll be removed from the library.

You'll also be asked if you want the song put into the trash. If you want it completly removed from your system click yes.

Hi Mike,

What delete key?? I have looked everywhere...File, edit, view etc, also, there is no delete icon showing in itunes. Am I blind?? Please help

tania try going to edit then clear. i havent ever deleted songs from the main list but that should work.

Hi Trevor,

Tried that. Going in, only copy is highlighted (there is no option to cut, clear and paste) This is in the recently added list that I want to remove songs. I have the option to clear songs from other playlists but that doesn't help me. You would think it would be more simple 😟 Any other suggestions guys? Thanks for helping

Keyboard delete does not work either. That is with the song highlighted, single click, double click...no cigar 😟

I'm at a total loss. You're in a playlist, the song is highlighted, you click on Edit and Clear won't work.

Very strange.

guess that will teach me for putting songs on my ipod that I didn't really want (hazard of buying it and wanting it stacked immediately) Oh well, thanks for trying, if you do have a revelation, please post it as I will keep checking in the hope someone can answer my question. Thanks guys xx

oh i think she is trying to delete songs from the Recently Added list. i dont think u can delete songs from that. it is more of just a notice so ur able to check what songs have been added recently like the list is called.

I was beginning to think that as well Trevor. My only concern was that every time I updated my ipod, all those songs would go on as well (which I can bear) but what happens when you fill the 4Gb? How do I clear space for more songs and delete the ones that I am sick of. I should've stuck with my walkman lol, at lest I could take the tape out!

Thanks Trevor but I think that I have worked it out (hopefully) I think that to delete songs permanently from your playlists you need to do it from the 'Library' and not the recently added list. I think that it just for reference. Thanks for your time 🙂

Recently Added is just a reference list. You can delete from Playlists that will clear the song from the Playlist or delete from Library which will delete the song from iTunes. That'll keep it from being added ti the iPod.
