iTunes 8 & QuickTime 7.3.0?

I'm currently using iTunes 7.5 and all of the features that I actually use work fine under QuickTime 7.3.0. For the moment, I am not upgrading QuickTime because QT 7.3.1 breaks a fairly large number of interactive movies with the loss of Flash support, and besides, it's the last version that has been +approved for my version of Avid Xpress Pro...

Knowing that once I install iTunes 8 there is no going back, and knowing that I do not (at present) use the movie features of iTunes *at all*, and knowing that I do not own an iPod of any description...

Can I upgrade to iTunes 8 without upgrading QuickTime? Or will that break iTunes?

Well, Avid Xpress Pro 4.8.4 is pretty ancient, too...

Who said anything about 7.3.1? I'm still using 7.3.0 because I have need for flash track playback. It would be nice if Apple would say something about whether they are planning to bring that support back or not. I figure I'll stick with 7.3.0 until either Apple brings back flash support, or until QuickTime is as stable as it was in version 6.5.3. So far they have done neither.

Sounds like I might be stuck with iTunes 7 for a while, too...
