"Safari cannot open page..."

"Safari cannot open page..."

All of my imported bookmarks do not function and I receive this error message:
"Safari cannot open page because it is a local file"

iMac (Intel), Mac OS X (10.4.10), iTunes 8, iPhone 2.1 3G

When you sync the iPhone, under the info tab, check the box that says to replace stuff on the iPhone (bottom of info tab) and check bookmarks.

Since I first posted this i did come to understand that the problem was not with recently-created Bookmarks but older ones that had been imported into the Mac from my old Windows PC.

Yes. They work on the Mac.

You might want to try visiting the websites manually and then bookmarking them. May not be the ideal solution, but hey, it's worth a try!

The address on the Mac does start with "local host" so the error sort of makes sense. But i don't have this problem on the Mac itself. Although your suggestion is makes sense, I'd probably go through them and delete ones that don't seem very important first before manually recreating them. I may call Apple first and see if they have any suggestions. It seems like this should have happened to others: people who moved to Mac in the last few years and used OutlooktoMac or whatever to export mail and favorites...
