How do I undo sort column? I need it to return as if it were not sorted..

I am working on a Numbers document, it is a monthly project with entries made by date, ascending. I need to be able to alternate between sorting the client column to sorting date ascending, and then go back to the default {no sort} add additional dates chronologically. As of now I am entering dates like this 9.2.2008, 9.15.2008, when it sorts it does not sort them correctly by date, as this is on several pages, I am not sure if this is part of the problem with the sorting.

Please Help.

Numbers does not 'remember' an original unsorted state - except via undo - which I wouldn't want to rely on. I'd suggest that you use a reference value to keep the unsorted state -

1 datum one
2 datum two
3 datum three

Returning to the unsorted state would be done by sorting on the first column. (If you don't want the show the contents of that column you can simply make the font color match the background color or hide the column.)

Dates should be entered 10/3/2008 or 10-3-2008

As far as I know, you are not using correctly the program and of course, you get what resemble to an odd result which is in fact a perfectly correct one.

I never saw 9.2.2008 among the formats recognized as dates.

If I enter this value in cell B2 and type =MONTH(B) in cell C2, I will get an infamous red triangle.
If I enter the recognized 9/2/2008, i will get 2 which is the month (on a machine set to dd/mm/yyyy)

Given that, your values are not sorted as dates but as strings and the result is perfectly correct.

In most of the sheets, when we wish to be able to revert a sort to the original status, the correct soluce is to use a column storing consecutive numbers so it would be easy to sort using these numbers as key values.
