I just purchased this iPod today... I plugged it into my computer and began loading music onto it using itunes. I allowed the iPod to charge fully. As soon as I correctly ejected the iPod for the first time from my computer and disconnected it from the cord it turned off. I plugged the iPod back in and again ejected it correctly and unplugged it with the same results. I attempted to restart the iPod, sliding the hold into lock and back to unlock and then holding down Menu+Center button for more than six seconds. It still would not turn on. The iPod works correctly when I eject the device but do not disconnect the cord however I am asked to choose the language each time. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue. If its plugged in, then there is no issue. as soon as i unplug it (after clicking on the eject button) it just turns off. I have tried the switch the hold button on then off and then press the menu and center button multiple times. I have done the reset the settings deal, as well as the full restore.

First, hold down the center and menu buttons at the same time till you see the apple logo. That should get you going. If not, here is the full monty on apples troubleshooting for the Nano:
Same probs here - Brand new out of the box, 2nd Gen Nano. A gift from my mom's company almost 2 years ago. This is crazy... 1500+ reviews on this topic and no one has any idea of how to fix this problem? Was anyone successful in contacting an Apple Tech Rep from corporate office in response to trouble-shooting this issue, besides using the "5 R's" posted under the "Support" column, which obviously do not work? Any help out there from Apple would be nice.., especially when people are spending their money on your half-working devices...

Hi there, I am on with support right now and after all the regular resets and reloads you see on the support pages, they determined it is a display problem and they are replacing the unit. Stop frustrating yourself now and call the support number: U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)
"Mac and iPod customers within 90 days of ownership are eligible for complimentary phone support — one support incident per iPod and unlimited incidents per Mac. iPhone comes with up to two years of technical support while your iPhone is subscribed to wireless service from one of Apple’s exclusive wireless carriers for iPhone."
