Pairing iPhone with Plantronics Voyager 520

I cannot pair my iPhone with a new Voyager 520 headset. I was able to pair the last one (which died, so I had to buy a new one ....)

iPhone 3G, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Without turning the headset on, turn the bluetooth on for the phone. Select the headset that is paired, and select Unpair. Then turn bluetooth off. Put the headset into the "discover" mode, by holding down the power button until the light flashes red and blue. Then turn the bluetooth on for the phone, and it should "discover" it. It should ask for the passcode, normally 0000. Once you enter that, it should pair. After that, you should be alright. You can turn the headset off and back on again and it should connect right away.
Hope this helps.

I had already tried that, including several combinations of turning the respective devices on and off. (As an ex-PC user, I'm programmed to reboot a lot.) What seemed to cause the pairing was my touching the line on the screen where the "Plantronics 520" was showing (not paired). Either it was a random occurrence, or touching the screen worked.

I had no problem pairing my Voyager 520, but had to repair it whenever the headset went out of and back into range, or when it got power cycled. Then I set Auto Lock on the phone to never. Now I only have to repair when I power cycle the phone (not the headset). Still not ideal. This problem is not unique to Plantronics or the 520. I think Apple has a bug to fix.
