Not much... you may lose use of that USB port until a reboot. What system is your
computer running, and which version of iTunes are you using? What changes have
you made to your system lately?

Check any anti-virus apps you have and turn them off from scanning the iPod.

I had the same issue. I moved the shuffle from the keyboard usb. I also noticed that Time Machine was running as well. Once it stopped I was able to eject the ipod.

this is very easy to fix,

go into the summary tab of your ipod, then un tick "enable Disk Use"

If you are using mac, close all finder windows
If pc, close all "windows explorer" windows
    Turn off disk use...

I've been having the same problem. I had the logic board replaced in my iMac and then had to redo a lot of things (get Time Machine recognized, my iPhoto library on an external drive) and so I figured this was part of that problem.

I have "Disk Usage" NOT enabled. It still won't let me eject the iPod. Plus the screen stays on as long as it's connected. Used to be that it would go dark after a while.

This happens on both of my iPods (nano new gen, iPod Classic 160 GB).

    Thanks,
