How do you reverse sync your iPod?

I just got a new computer, and I kept all my music on my iPod. How do I get the music from the iPod to iTunes on the new computer?

Hi HQ4U,

Welcome to Apple Discussions Forum!

Just forget what the other users told you, that article is useless in this case. I'd recommend you to read [this post|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8209923#8209923] from Zevoneer.

Hope this helps! 😉

You mean you don't have a backup of your music on your computer or anywhere else? What happens if your iPod is lost, stolen or malfunctions? You've lost ALL your music.

Easiest way would've been to transfer your iTunes Library from your old computer (or a backup) to your new computer. That's the correct way to use iTunes - it even has a backup function built in.

Hi Julian,

Ok, I can't disagree with some things you said. However, the OP *did not lose* his music at all! As you may have seen, there are several programs, which will transfer all the information from the iPod to the computer (see post above), if the music was not bought in iTunes Store, because if it was, it will be even easier - just click "Transfer Purchases".

If you haven't heard about this process (which I doubt), please read the Zevonner's post, linked above! 😉

If you haven't heard about this process

I've heard about the process (Senuti is my fave), but fortunately never personally had to copy music back from my iPods because all my music is in my iTunes Library, where it should be, and I also do regular backups to DVD (which are kept in a separate location).

I've invested too much time and money in my iTunes Library to just keep it in one location (my iPod).

But I was trying to make a point about the importance of backing up your music. Some people have thousands of £££/$$$ worth.

Also, if you've transferred photos, the Pod touch only keeps low-res versions of the originals, so copying those back wouldn't help much if you only kept your photos on the iPod.

Hi Julian again,

Right, that's why I started my post saying:

Ok, I can't disagree with some things you said.

I do the same, as I spent more than 900$ on iTunes, so I have my library located on 2 computers, Time Capsule, iPhone and an iPod Nano! 😉 Actually, I made a good point, which many users are not aware, but *they should*!
