Pairing of iTunes and iPod touch for Remote App not working

Hi everyone,

maybe someone can solve this mystery for me: when trying to pair my iPod touch with iTunes for the Remote application it fails silently. After entering the 4 digit PIN shown on the iPod touch in iTunes a message is shown on top of iTunes "checkin..." and nothing happens anymore.

The MacMini has an up to date Leopard with latest iTunes 8 installed. The iPod touch is running also the latest software version. Both are connected via WLAN. I tried already to reset iPod touch, the MacMini. I setup iTunes to share the whole library and to discover remotes.

No additional firewall is installed on my Mac. The router does not have any filtering active and I also tried to forward to ports manually to the Mac which were suggested on some website. No change.

Anyone with some suggestions on how to find out whats wrong?

I had a more detailed look what my Netgear router setup (WPN824) is. UPnP is turned on and it has the following rules set:

Active Protocol Int. Port Ext. Port IP Address
YES UDP 4500 4504 192.168.0.4
YES UDP 5353 5357 192.168.0.4

The IP address listed is my MacMini.

Anyone around who knows if additional port fowards are needed for Remote to work?
