Accellerometer iphone 3g

Hey Everybody!
I've a question about the iPhone 3G accellerometer....
If I use it too much could it be broken? If yes, what are the solutions?

It doesn't wear out.

If it stops working there is a software problem.

If a web page in safari changes to landscape when you tip the phone, the accelerometer is working. This is all it was intended to do.
