Burning CD's - track order rearranged

The playlist you're burning, do a right-click on the playlist and choose *Copy to Play Order*. Then it should burn in the order you seen on the itunes screen.

If you burn an audio CD, it will keep the playlist order. Anything else would be a huge bug.

If you are burning a data CD, you will see the sort of the file system that you view it with, just as viewing any other files.

It appears that several people are having this problem.... me included. So I create a playlist from an album, the list shows everything in the correct order, and shuffle is NOT on. I burn the CD (audio) and I can watch it burn the tracks in random order!! The finished CD is usable just the wrong order. I have tried this several times with the same playlist, recreated the playlist, and tried different albums all with random results. Very frustrating!!!

File this under "huge bug", then, because I'm seeing the same problem - I'm attempting to burn a compilation, and it's burning the songs in alphabetical order by artist, not by the order they are in the playlist.

Not checking CD-TEXT makes no difference on my machine. I've also tried "Copy to play order" (whatever that is) and it made no difference, either. I've also tried burning as a Data CD/DVD, iTunes still changes the order to a sort by Artist alphabetically no matter what I try.

Apple needs to get off their .ss and fix this!!!

Okay, I did a little bit more tinkering around and the problem for me seems to be unrelated to whether or not CD text is turned on. The only albums I am having problems with are those bought from the iTunes store. Albums bought from other retailers are working fine.

heh, not really. I can't find it in the itunes help.
I think someone here on AD told me to use it when I was having problems getting things on my iPod in the exact order I wanted them....and then I tried it for burning CDs.

If you have CD-Text checked while burning it alphabetizes the burn order. So until we get a fix we have to decide if CD-Text is more important than burning in the correct order. 🙂

Are you sorting the CD by track#?
If you view teh CD in Windows Expxloder, is it in order?

I am also having this problem and agree that it is VERY frustrating! How long has iTunes 8 been out? I think it's about time to get this bug fixed.

Thanks for the tip! When I choose "Copy to Play Order" nothing visible changes. Other than potentially fixing my problem, do you know what that command is for?
