LaCie Backup versus Silverkeeper as alternative to TM

I recently picked up a small LaCie portable drive and it came with two software packages: Silverkeeper and LaCie Backup. They appear to do pretty much the same thing. Does anyone here know of a reason why I should use one over the other? Is one package more suited for certain needs over another?

It seems Silverkeeper is not for 10.5 though a fix is being explored:

LaCie Backup appears to be similar to many other backup utilities out there but I don't know why that would be necessary over TM. TM is native Mac and works very well in most situations. Plus it does everything it says that LaCie Backup can do.

I would rather use TM and supplement it with, for instance, SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make clones.

Hope it helps.
