I'm looking for a way to use clips from an iTunes downloaded TV show in FCP. I need to use clips from these files to compile my steadicam reel. Any help on the Mac platform would help.

2.16GHz MBP, Mac OS X (10.5.5), iTunes 8 + FCPS2

Don't ask how to break Apple's DRM on their own forum.

If you played some part in creating this show, contact the production company and ask them to help.

No better place to ask about breaking the DRM for a legal use.

As far as getting the footage, thats no problem once they release the DVD. That's the comfortable period of releasing footage for most projects, once they put it out in the stores on DVD. That's at least another three months away and does nothing for me getting work now off what was done two months ago. That's where the problem comes in. So, I'm buying the show from iTunes so that I can start to edit the new reel now with edits and audio instead of using the 640x368 DVR'd from my steadicam.

BTW, I'm still waiting for footage from other production companies over 2 years now...

Breaking DRM in itself is illegal. So is offering advice on how to do it. You can thank the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DCMA) of 1998. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalMillennium_CopyrightAct

Now THAT I didn't know... as such I digress to the release of the DVD.

Dunno why getting footage out of production companies is such a pain. Because THEY are the ones who insist on seeing demo reels, yet they don't want to give footage to the crew in order to make them. I have had to resort to a lot of tricks when I was cutting people's demo reels.
