Where are apps stored on my pc

Where are apps stored on my pc

I try to backup my ipod every week or so just in case and thought I should backup the apps this time. I tried finding them on my pc but can't locate them under anything to do with itunes. I did however find them in my recycle bin (which I thought was odd). Can anyone tell me how to save them to an external HD. I have the latest version of itunes and touch software and am running vista.

Hi,

Don't know about Vista but in XP they are here -

C:\Documents and Settings\ +user name+ \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications

Fact is though you don't really need to back them up, most of them seem to be frequently updated rendering back ups obsolete. Also, you can always redownload them to iTunes or to your Touch via WiFi without being charged again.

I saw the mobile applications folder but when I opened it there is nothing there. Is that normal? I may be getting an imac in November am I'm trying to make the itunes transition as easy as possible. Thanks so much for responding Dud!

Hi again,

Do the Apps show up in iTunes, in the Applications part of the Library?

If so, right click on one, get info and check the summary tab, this should tell you " Where" the file is located.

That is exactly where I looked for the apps. I figured that's where they should be. There is a folder that says mobile applications but when I open it it's empty. I thought I read somewhere that some files/folders are hidden in vista. Could that be the case? Thanks again!

Maybe, in XP I go to the folder, click > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden files.

For Vista, similar?

Thanks so much. I was able to change the folders to show hidden folders. Still when I double click on the mobile applications folder it's empty..BUT..if I
right click on the folder and go to explore they all show up. So I guess it's just my stupidity of not right clicking and exploring and doing the double click instead.

Thanks so much for trying to help me thru this. But like you said earlier, it's not really an issue. It was just driving me alittle crazy as to where they were.

One last thing, if you don't mind of course, is it normal that all my apps are showing up in my reclying bin? I went to delete things in there and noticed all the apps are in there. Have you ever heard of that?

Hi,

I really don't know what is going on there, that they are essentially being deleted seems quite odd.

To be honest, I suspect this may be a "Vista" issue, perhaps someone else out there has some experience or thoughts on the subject?

Heya

I have noticed deleted apps in my Recycle Bin on my Vista laptop, when these "deleted apps" are updated.

I guess the prior version of the app is sent to the Recycle Bin once updated.
