ZAGG invisibleSHIELD or "bodyguardz"

which one is to buy? i trust zagg more because they were the first to come up with this idea, but i saw bodyguardz website and believe they are copying the zagg approach. they both offer scratch resistance but who is better, more original, more trust worthy? (bodyguardz copied the film, the spray, the squeegee, the instructions, the price)

Windows XP, I also own an iPod video 80GB and an iPod nano 4GB 2nd gen

I'd get the bodyguardz. I was very very disappointed with the new design on the zagg invisible shield. Especially the front cover, I put it on, and later after it dries, i can see the hairline scratches underneath the shield. No i do not have any scraches on my screen itself. So the hairline scraches are very visible under the bright white screen. I've heard someone also had this issue and tried for a replacement and they said that they would replace it once, and said that there will be a chance that you will get replacement with the hairline streaks on them. So I would not get the invisible sheild at all.

I would just get the bodyguardz, it is so easy to install better than the invisible shield, and it is crystal clear, you don't even realize that it's there. As for the back, it's not that easy to install and it's not like the newer design for the invisible shield. But i like it better with the bodyguardz.

The reason why i say get bodyguardz is that you get 2 piece of both back and the front with the price of one. Which is 24.95, while invisible shield you get the same price 24.95 and just get 1 piece of each. Which i would say that invisible shield would be more expansive then bodyguardz.

Overall, i rate bodyguardz as a 4 star. given that the quality is better. Zagg a 2 star.

i read the reviews on iLounge and went out to get the Bodyguardz over the InvisibleShield. after going through the 2 sets of film that came with the Bodyguardz, i decided to try the InvisibleShield. the following is a comparison of the back film since i use Capdase's non-glare screen protector.

Bodyguardz

pros
-----
1. more film for your money. in fact you get 2 sets
2. film material feels better than InvisibleShield which tends to feel like its collecting dirt
3. better protection than InvisibleShield, particularly on the top and bottom

cons
-----
1. 1-piece design makes it very difficult to apply. i couldn't get the edges to stay down and 2 corners ended up bubbling up. and this was still true when i got on to my 2nd set.
2. takes longer for bubbles to dry and disappear

InvisibleShield

pros
-----
1. 2-piece design is very much easier to apply and virtually bubble-free on first application
2. the corners are cut better and stays down perfectly

cons
-----
1. only 1 set of film in the box but then again you only need 1 set if you do it right.

as you can probably guess, i'm a very happy customer of the InvisibleShield. the Bodyguardz is a great product. just that i wish the edges will stay down better. if they manage to solve that problem it will be a winner.

I have invisible shield and LOVE it. There is also a life time warranty. The first time I got it done (I had them put it on for me) the sides started to come, so I took it back and they replaced it no problem. They too also spray it and squeegee. I am always showing my friends and family how much I like it and pull out my keys and start trying to leave some marks, but nothing happens! To make a long story longer I would go with the invisible shield.

I don't know why people waste money on these so-called screen protectors and/or iPhone protectors.

Firstly folks, the screen is glass, it ain't gonna scratch easily, plastering a piece of plastic over it does what?

Secondly, those "skins" don't do much except make the thing look and feel ugly. Also, any crumb or piece of grit that gets between the skin and the phone will surely scratch it over time. I had such a thing on my Nano and when I took it off to give to my niece I was shocked to see how badly scratched it was underneath.

Keep the iPhone naked! All I have is a Marware belt pouch/holster which keeps it handy and protected when not in use.

Actually the glass do scratch. If you don't take care of it, it will. My ipod touch has scratches on the screen. So if you have scratches on your iphone, that's your problem.

I'd rather have the back scratch free, and yes it does scratch if you are careless like putting coins and keys on the same pocket.

I guess money doesn't seem to be important to you then. Since iphone is rather expensive.

I never said don't take care of it mate, quite the opposite!

The only way to scratch the glass is to put it in your pocket with something sharp like keys or similar so don't do that!

It won't scratch with normal use, like contact with your finger!

As for the back, I always put it down on something soft and clean.

Yes it's expensive, never said otherwise, yes protect it but don't fall for gimmicks that will cost you money, make it look ugly and not protect it at all!

they have an invisable shield stand at the mall in my town and i was surprised to see how expensive a piece of film can be. The prices were as follows:

$20.00 for just the front film, do it yourself
$25.00 for just the front with professional installation
$35.00 for completely wrapped but do it yourself
$40.00 for the whole thing done and they do it for you

is this reasonable?

a case is cheaper then that and will protect it better. Seems like a rip off.

and as for the back even tho you put it down on a soft and clean cloth, it can still scratch.

Honestly, putting invisible shield or bodyguardz is way better than getting those bulky cases because the bulky cases is bigger and makes your iphone bigger, not only that putting bulky cases make it look much more ugly then putting on the zagg shield or the bodyguardz which is way more cooler.

Well the full body shield itself costs 24.95, and a front film does not cost 20.00 alone. So it is not reasonable price.

IS is pretty alright. Speaking from someone who bought it from Australia they replaced my shield without any major issues.

Personally those who are saying you dont need a shield, good luck. Those who think they want to drop the iphone and expect the shield to bounce back into your hands without damage, good luck.

Please look at things with more prespective, if you intend to be super rough with things, you shouldnt even use the iphone, is just waiting to break. The sheilds mention here are obviously for people who want to retain the look of the phone with some minimal protection on the body and screen.

IS is not totally scratch proof but is pretty strong and good material. Some hate the feel of the shield, but I am pretty alright with it.

For lifetime replacement, I think is pretty good, I just send my iphone for replacement so I will probably call IS to arrange another one to be replace soon. Removing the IS is very easy and has not given me any problems.

Wow this is a good thread, i do have a full zagg on my phone now but come to think of it after reading im wondering why i paid almost 30 bucks for plastic, when you can get a some what decent form fitting case for the same price ? Yea if u install a zagg well it will look ok until grit gets on the edges. My questions are why is there no marks on my wifes iphone that she carrys in her purse with no skin on it ? Is it that the phone can not scratch easily ? are we all just to worried about nothing ?
My second question is why dont they sell these at the apple store ? are they not safe for the phone ? will it retain to much heat on the phone ?
The more i think about it the more i say why not just take the back part off and enjoy the beauty of the phone. Errrrr decision decisions over a **** phone that you can just replace when the next version comes out lol
