I've been right-clicking songs like I used to, the option used to be "convert to AIFF" and it would put an AIFF file in the same folder. Now with iTunes 8 the option is "Create AIFF version" and I do it, the little orange animated icons go, then...no aiff file can be found in the folder, even when I do a search for the song name; only the original files come up.

What file type are you converting to an AIFF (and why)?

If they are already AIFF (your import settings are set to AIFF which is why it displays this option), iTunes will not create a new one.

hm, well it seems it may be another installment in the never-ending saga of bugs that ensues when you share a hard disk with your PC using AirPort...I can see AIFF files in that hard disk with my PC. Maybe after I restart my Mac the files will be available...
