Missed calls during sleep mode

I have googled this problem, and have discovered lots of people out there who have this particular issue with the iPhone missing calls when in sleep mode. When the phone is awakened, a message will display showing a missed call, but the phone never rings when in sleep mode! This is very annoying. The only thing I have found as a work-around is to set the Auto Lock feature in settings to Never, and just keep the phone active all day, which of course runs the battery down. I have gone to the Apple store, and they checked the phone out and said they thought it might be a SIM card issue and suggested taking it to AT&T. AT&T checked it out, had no clue, and said to take it to the Apple store. I have reset the phone and tried the restore feature, both of which did not resolve the issue. The phone is 3 months out of warranty now, and Apple will do nothing about replacing it. It took me 3 months to figure out why I was missing callsUser uploaded file I am so frustrated. Apple really needs to fix this issue and pay attention to the discussion boards out there. Anybody out there have any other suggestions to fox this?

I have exactly the same problem. When in sleep locked mode the phone doesn't ring. It only rings when in unlocked mode.

However even sometimes when in locked mode it rings but usually it doesn't.

It seems there is a bug and there must be a solution.

If you advise it is the setting, pleased to here where to change what. Having it unlocked the whole time is obviously not the idea.

Pleased to hear.

Thanks.

Greetings,

This is a new one to me, I always put my iPhone in sleep mode, and my calls ring through just fine. I assume you did the 2.1 Update? I'd look closer at your settings, the problem almost has to be in there somewhere.

I don't think the SIM card could cause that, but request a new one and see. A friend of mine was having issues with something else that no one could find, and he asked AT&T for a new SIM, and he got it. everything is normal now.

Good Luck - Cheers,
M.

I had an issue like this with my iPhone for a little while... long story short, mind ended up being caused by a ringtone gone awry.

I do believe, Joseph, that you have a cure for the problem! I did have a custom ringtone on there, and simply chose one of the built-in ringtones, then did a reset, and it now rings when in sleep mode. Thanks for this insight.

Well...I spoke too soon! My phone was actually ringing for a couple of days, even when in sleep mode. But now it's back to not ringing in sleep mode. I've removed the custom ringtone completely, changed to a built-in ringtone again, reset the phone, to no avail. Oh, well. Guess I'll try to do another restore, without backing up the data, and see if that does any good.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

A friend of mine has this problem ever since he bought his iPhone 2 months ago and now I am looking for a solution to help him. Anyone here ever looked at the iPhone's CrashReport after having the "missed calls in sleep mode"-problem?

His CrashReport says something about Low Power (although the battery is nearly full) and Modem Reset ... what could that mean?
