help with my brand new nano

I just received my ipod nano today, i installed the software and updated itunes, restarted my computer, and then plugged in my nano. About 1/3 of the way through transfering my music files it said i had a corrupted file, and the corrupted file was the title of the playlist i designated my nano to update it's library from. Anyways, I tried to start it back up again but after i got past the window asking me if i want to have my ipod library automatically updated, Windows tells me that my itunes.exe for version 5.0 is a corrupt file and to run diskcheck, and then the ipod resets and starts asking me if i want to automatically update my ipod. This happened twice, i redownloaded and reinstalled itunes and the ipod software updater and on the third time after unplugging my ipod (when it was ok to) the screen showed a charging battery signal and then turned off, and now it won't turn back on, i've tried resetting it and plugging it back into my computer but it still doesn't respond. So how do i get it to work again, and when i do, how do i get it to not mess up when i plug it into my computer? Sorry this was so long. Also, the battery was full when I unplugged it before it crashed.

What version of windows are you running? I would start with removing iTunes from the computer completely and then reinstalling it. I have had moments of concern when my iPod photo would not come on but plugging it into the dock, and not the PC, usually fixes that little quirk. You may try this link for some ideas http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60942.
I wouldn't worry, these things have their moments but it usually tends to get all worked out. I had issue with plugging my nano into the PC and trying to get it to disconnect. Windows had installed the software to run it and needed a reboot before it would work. When you reinstall iTunes and get your nano back on, I recommend taking it slow till all things have been connected successfully the first time. Good luck!
