Oct 8, 2008 4:06 PM in response to HandyMacby Jan Hedlund,Many years ago, this tool was available from Apple resellers or service providers. Without the tool, it may become necessary to disassemble the printer (with a bit of training, and a wide plastic foam bud, it is even possible to carry out a simplified pick-up roller cleaning from the outside).

Oct 9, 2008 5:43 AM in response to Jan Hedlundby HandyMac,Thanks. Yes, according to the StyleWriter service manual, the tool was available from Apple until 1999; I have one, actually, and have used it numerous times, but don't want to send it away with my client to South America for the winter, so was wondering if I could find another for him.
I see a "Foam Swab" pictured in the manual (pg. 91); do you have any idea where such an item could be found? -

When writing this, I do not have access to the manual in question. However, I think that a "foam bud" was part of either a CD-ROM drive or a floppy drive cleaning kit that could be bought in computer stores. Otherwise, you could possibly try a plain cotton bud moistened with a small amount of water (although it may be difficult to reach the "roller" from the outside).
