FCP and powerpoint

Hi gang,

I have finished a movie in FCP and of course it needed a few powerpoint slides. I changed the slides to a 16x9 perspective. I noticed that when I watch the final product on a widescreen tv, my titles are out of the safe zone. Frustrating because I made sure they were right on the lines of text safe on my viewer before I exported. Anyone have any idea why I am seeing two different sizes?

I scrolled through all of the tv settings as well and the left side of my slides are all cropped off. Help User uploaded file

j/c ..... might you have your dvd player / WS set to pan and scan and not letterbox?

I can't believe it was that simple. I was outsmarting myself with this one. I burned a copy with the slides out of the safe zones (I mean way out, as far out as I could have them) and now even they are ok).

I do have one follow up for you. Why is it that I can see all of the powerpoint slide on the widescreen tv view when I had the files in the canvas way out from the text safe zone?

That is making no sense to me. I thought that the safe zone was there for a reason however, I see all.

Hi-
Can you explain how you go about getting PowerPoint slides into FCP? Everything I've tried has left them looking really awful. The text is all blurry.

I import PPT slides (saved as JPGs) all the time into FCE. They look horrible in Final Cut (I think due to the preview settings), but when you export the MOV, they are great. Have you tried rendering the MOV file yet?
