IP Configuration error

Hi all,

I have a 2.8GHz 24" iMac and have recently purchased an 3G iPhone.

The iMac is connected to my SKY router by Ethernet cable and has been working fine. Since I have bought the iPhone and connect to the WiFi I have been getting the following error message come up:

*IP Configuration*
192.168.0.2 in use by 00:1a:e9:8c:b5:ec, DHCP
Server 192.168.0.1

I'm guessing this has something to do with the iPhone connecting, and the iMac will not work on the internet until I turn it's own Airport on and connect via WiFi.

Is there anyway I can solve this problem so that they can both live in harmony whilst the iMac is still connected via ethernet cable?

Thanks all.

It should fix the problem long term.

This issue is with the dhcp server on the router. The sky router is a rebranded netgear dg834gt and is normally a very efficient box. However sky are also using sagem boxes as well I have never liked sagem boxes.

The other thing you could do is assign a static IP address to your mac that is outside the dhcp pool of IP addresses.

Which modem do you have does it look like this?

first of all you need to check the dchp range the router is using do that login into your router

http://192.168.0.1

login: admin
password: sky

Then click on the Lan IP setup from the left collumn

and change the ip reange to 192.168.0.5 to 192.168.0.20 for example then click apply.

Then on your mac goto the system preferences->network select the ethernet port and click the configure button and choose manually
