I bought my MacBook in August so it is very new. Recently it has started to shut down after about 5-10 minutes of use. I read on the main page about an update but it is for older operating systems and tells me that my computer doesn't need the update. The problem, however, did start occurring since I moved to Poland from North America. I'm not sure why that would be a problem but I don't know much about computers. I am a graduate student and can't have my computer shutting down whenever it feels like it. Which is why I bought a Mac in the first place. If someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it!
Otherwise call AppleCare. You have free AppleCare for the first 90 days, and a chance to extend your coverage to 3 years from date of computer's purchase by buying AppleCare within the first year.
I am glad someone else posted a problem like mine. Yesterday for the first time ever my MacBook randomly shutdown. Today it did it twice. I am freaking out. I have version 1.3 of the battery updater, but it seems to be a battery problem because it only shuts down when not plugged in. My battery indicator is working fine. The MacBook is just randomly shutting down. Help!
Random shutdowns are typically an issue with the power manager or the computer preventing itself from overheating, which is an indication the power manager isn't functioning properly. See what I wrote.
I'm having the same issue and it just started recently...i too purchased my macbook in august and recently (11/1) it has started to shut down intermittently with no warning...if i take the battery out and run it straight with the power it seems to work for about 15 minutes and than it'll shut down!!! i've checked for battery updates and the firmware updates..but all is good there..i dont know what to do?!?!?!
