Do not use Displex

My friend just used Displex on his iPod nano. Displex takes away layers of plastic when you "polish" it.

It came out looking WORSE then before he used it. It may work ok for cellphone screens because the screen's plastic is harder but NOT for the iPod nano.

This iPod nano needs to be recalled IMHO. In Switzerland they are on display all scratched up but some stores are refusing to sell them. I purchased a Sony walkman instead of a iPod nano. They are really nice and don't scratch if you want an alternative.

so I guess that must mean I am blind ( as well as all the other posts in this forum from people who have used it) since I have used Displex to remove the scratches on my ipod (actually used it on 2 ipods) and it worked great and removed the scratches from both of them

if you grind away at it instead of rubbing it in, using the appropriate cloth to apply and remove it, then I can see that it might do damage

and its not even clear from your post... do you own an ipod?

You might believe in the product but I am here to help others SAVE there new purchases from further scratching.

I have seen it used on 4 iPod nanos and the results are not at all appealing. Displex actually REMOVES plastic particles on your iPod when you use it. To the contrary it does not just fill in the scratches.

First I'm a troll, now in order to post I should myself be an iPod nano owner?

Give me a break Jeff. Show me the rules where it states I can't help friends through a forum please.

given that this is a technical support forum for nano users, if someone doesnt own an ipod, then how do they help someone with a product if they do not own the product and are not familiar with the product

and you still havent answered the question - do you own an ipod? have you used the product?

according to your first post, the answer is no since you stated you bought a walkman instead of a nano so.....

thats different from seeing other people use it

for you it didnt work - that doesnt mean it doesnt work - it simply means it didnt work for you, or more accurately, it didnt work for your friends, and as previously noted, there are many threads here supporting the fact that it does work

Well Jeff,

I did own one. So I have had hands on experience however the relevance from whether or not I owned an ipod is not what is the issue at hand unfortunately.

Technical expertise in this matter aswell is retrospective to the current issue I am presenting at hand.

Your critism on how I and others have used a product are not upheld by the fact that other users are reporting success. Infact your comments hinder your lack of support for others who should be aware that it CAN cause further damage. I am here to state such and inform others.

We can agree too disagree.

DISPLEX Works.

I have a new black Nano, with a major dulling and matt area on the black front and screen caused by Nail varnish remover (don't ask!) a large patch that is much worse than scratching. I bought Displex (£4on UK ebay).

I applied it with a spectacles cleaning cloth and after 30 minutes of careful circular polishing, medium pressure, it has made an improvement of say 90%. Casual lookers will not notice the original damage. Another session of 10 minutes will probably cure all trace of damage, although wife is now happy that her precious Nano is not terminally scarred as it was.
