Where is the Gracenote track info stored for a CD?
I have a CD entitled Blue Hour by Stanley Turrentine. Gracenotes recognized this incorrectly as a Jose Feliciano CD. I would like to delete that info from the Gracenote database and enter the correct info, so I can correctly import the CD into iTunes. Any ideas? Thanks.
MacBook Pro, Powerbook G4, Mac Mini, Sony Vaio,
Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Insert the CD. Put the correct information into iTunes, using Get Info. Then use the command *Advanced > Submit CD Track Names.* That will send it to Gracenote.
The physical CD must be present in iTunes to use this command.
It may take a day or so until Gracenote updates, after which it will come up for any iTunes user who inserts a copy of that CD.
I'll try that, but the problem is that the original CD has five long tracks and the incorrect info has 10 shorter tracks and 10 tracks physically show up when I open the CD. I'm thinking that if I get rid of the database info on my machine, then the five original tracks will show up and I can easily rename them.
Gracenote is an external website. iTunes will check its own database of CDs you've had on the same machine, which are stored as .cidb files, before it goes to Gracenote.
If the CD is showing up with 10 tracks in iTunes then there are actually 10 tracks in the table of contents of the CD. How many tracks show up when you put the CD in a CD player? This may be different that what is stated in the liner notes that accompanies the CD.
One way to get around that is to select the CD in your iTunes Library, then Command + I which will prompt the Get Info window. Click the Info tab and type in the correct title for the album. Conversely, you can delete Gracenote information the same way.
