Can I Link Two Airport Extreme Units to Extend Internet Access?

I have a working Airport Extreme wireless network with the Airport Extreme upstairs.

I need internet access to my Xbox and DirecTV receiver downstairs.

Can I just buy another Airport Extreme, place it downstairs,thus extending the current wireless network and just plug in the Xbox and DirecTV receiver into the downstairs Airport Extreme?
