picture gets larger

picture gets larger

I drag a picture to a word document and the size grows from 2.9 MB while in iphoto to 18 MB in the word document which makes emailing the word doc impossible with that size a picture.

Any ideas are welcome.

Word is expanding the JPEG into a different format - TIFF, BMP, something - check the Word help file, the word manual or the Microsoft word help forum for help with word

Thanks, my friend had the same problem which when he tried to email a photo directly from Iphoto..

I tried to drag directly from iphoto to Appleworks and the same thing happens when I try to email the image as an email, the image transforms into a huge file just like in Word. So it appears to be something that iphoto is doing???

GH: Export the photo from iPhoto to your desktop, and in the Export dialog box, reduce the pixel dimensions of the picture dramatically. Then drag the exported image into Word and see whether you've reduced the file size far enough. Trial and error will eventually get you to the right setting for your exported picture's file size.
