Ipod Nano=Scratches=Ipod Nano Refund?

Everyone,

I am horribly disappointed in my black iPod Nano. It arrived a few days ago (my VERY first iPod), and I opened it with joy and excitement. After opening it, setting the Nano no the couch and loading my music, I picked it up and to my horror there were scratches on the back, FROM THE COUCH! Now, after putting it in the Apple Armband there are scratches on the front!

This is my first iPod and my excitement has turned to disappointment. I am not opposed to smalls scratches after using the Nano, but from setting it on the couch scratches SHOULD NOT happen.

Is anyone listening at Apple? Apple, can I return the Nano even though I had it engraved? (A trick on their part in my opinion). Anyone else want to start a petition to get a new nano that doesn't scratch?

No, I'm happy. They could've used different materials, but then it wouldn't have that distinctive iPod look. IMO, the nano delivers. Form and functionality as advertised. They never claimed it was scratch-proof.

Besides, scratches are only cosmetic. Your iPod will continue to work as promised...and look great. Only it will not look brand new. It seems people care more about details about how the nano looks vs. how it functions. Give up your music player because when light hits it the wrong way, it reveals cosmetic imperfections. Get some perspective, ppl.

Maybe it'd be nice if it was more scratch-proof, but to be so demanding seems unreasonable.

Dave,

You might try the following link. The person posting seems to have had a positive experience with Novus 2 polishing fluid. They claim that the scratch prone nature of their nano diminished with a couple polishings, implying that there may be a sensitive surface layer that is prone to scratching, and that this can be polished down to make the nano more robust.

I have had several classic iPods, all of which scratched with normal use (front plastic and rear chrome). The scratches on the nano probably seem more significant due to the nano's small face.

good luck!
