i just rented a movie last night for the first time, but every time i try to watch it itunes freezes and i have to close it. i've restarted my computer and it still does this. i reported the problem last night, and no one got back to me. i only have 10 hours left watch this. i can't report the problem again, i don't know what to do!
I am having the same problem! I tried upgrading to the newest itunes this morning and it still doesn't work. Only 6 more hours to watch the movie now and I probably won't be able to. Very frusterating!
Same Problem...Download OK...Hit Play and iTunes Freezes...not using any CPU bandwidth...but iTunes is locked up. Can kill iTunes and systems wants to send a debug report.
Tried viewing in QuickTimePlayer but no video and no sound.
Finally, switched to different account on same PC. Worked OK. Difference was the preferences for QuickTimePlayer. Seems that by choosing GDI (Safe Mode) in QuickTimePlayer, then iTunes freezes when playing the rented movie. I suspect that this is due to some DRM protection features. (Don't want anyone grabbing frames) Anyway, I use the GDI (Safe Mode) as it is the only way to get my nVidia card to export the video to my large TV.
So, iTunes movie rental works if I use DirectX as the video method selected in QuickTimePlayer. BUT, now I have to watch it on my small computer monitor. Not really a long term solution. So, I probably will not rent with iTunes again.
