Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 woes

Hello,
This card is PC based. I am wondering if I would be able to use this video card I acquired with the Dual G5 tower that I recently purchased. It is a 1.8GHz tower. I have been reading posts and I see that the ROM on PC based video cards has to be flashed with info that works with Mac. Is that the case with this card as well? if so, how do I set this card up so that it will work with my new tower? Thanks in advance for everyone's consideration.

PowerMac Dual G5 1.8 GHz Tower, Have not decided which OS (Tiger or Leopard) to use on this machine yet

Hi-
I have been reading posts and I see that the ROM on PC based video cards has to be flashed with info that works with Mac.

Yes, that's basically correct. However, the PC card needs to be a family member of a compatible Mac card; i.e. Radeon 9600, 9800, X800, Geforce 6800, 7800, etc.
Is that the case with this card as well?

There isn't an equivalent Mac card which has a ROM that can be used as is in the MX440. A Geforce4 MX or Ti (from a 4x AGP G4) ROM may be possible, but I couldn't say beyond that. I do know that Geforce4 cards have limited models which can be successfully flashed. Never seen the MX440 mentioned as one of those....

The MX440 is really a low end card. You'd be better off with a Geforce 5200....... which isn't saying much.

Japamac,
Thanks for replying to my post. I have decided to purchase a card instead of trying to rig something up. I purchased the ATI RADEON 9600 PRO AGP 4X/8X 256MB Dual DVI Video Card - For Mac* & PC, NEW - Retail Box Model from OWC. After researching for what seemed like forever, this is the card that has the best performance versus how much it cost. $179.99 was a good compromise in my opinion.
The PowerMac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz tower that I am going to use this in came with no video card and no hard drive. I do have original Tiger and Leopard disk. Could you give me some instruction on how to set this machine up since, I am assuming, the video will need drivers to work.
Thanks in advance for your help!
