Hotmail Premium Subscription
I have a hotmail premium subscription. I am trying to add hotmail to my iphone, however I am told that I must subscribe to hotmail plus. MSN prevents me from doing this as I have already paid for the premium service.
Upon checking the Apple site, it says that you need a hotmail plus subscription for hotmail accounts and a premium subscription for msn accounts. Is there a way round this as at present I cannot add my hotmail account.
I have contacted hotmail support and they told me that premium should work.
Other posts on here talk about the various port numbers, but I cannot get as far as that.
On the add account screen, I select "other".
I then enter name/address/password and description.
I then click save and get message "A windows live hotmail plus subscription is required ...."
But I cannot pay for this as msn prevents me from doing so as I have paid for the premium service.
If I click next, I get an error "cannot get mail".
Clicking ok goes to a new screen showing the imap and pop settings.
These all look ok.
Clicking save gives error "this account may not be able to send or receive emails...." however, this does save the account.
Going into settings later shows that it is already set to port 995.
When I try to access the mail on the new account, I again get error "cannot get mail".
Has anyone come accross this problem before? Any help would be very welcome as I have wasted many hours trying to set this up. I have read dozens of posts, but none seem relevant to this problem.
