NEW 17'' MBP Optical Drive splits out all discs

Just bought MBP 17, 4 days old - optical drive splits out every disc CD/DVD/factory new discs, burn discs, data, movies even apple's own factory discs don't read optical drive never worked.

MacBook Pro 17 hirez Oct2008 4GB 10.5.5, Mac OS X (10.5.5), not the just released dual graphics card model

I'd take it back. The optical drive is obviously not working, so I would ask for a new computer.

Thanks, will see if zI can take it back only problem is bought it from authorized UK seller (not apple themselves) but paid the same money and Im now in Greece I live here. I wonder if I can replace it in Athens. thanks guys I wish there new MBP 17'' was here

as far as i know, portable mac's have the same international warranty... i was told...
but not the desktops... so it's ok...

Hi! I also purchased a macbook pro in May 2008 and am now having problems with the SuperDrive spitting out discs. It will accept some but rejects others. Very temperamental. Have you had any resolve with this issue? Thanks Pam
