Aligning HP D4160 Printer

I recently had to replace a cartridge in my HP Deskjet D4160 printer. Whenever I do this, I realign the carts using the HP printer maintenance utility. However, I've discovered that the align function no longer works. I assume this is related to the HP driver update that occurred a few months ago. Other than this alignment problem, my printer works fine.

I'm running Leopard 10.5.5 on an iMac, The printer drivers are identified as 2.3.3. I ran the system console when I clicked on the "align" button and got the following message:

Oct 16 11:30:27 Cesium HP Printer Utility[364]: * -[HSDDeviceIdStateChecker isPenSetIncorrect]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x4d17f0

As a check, I hooked up my printer to an old PPC iBook running 10.4.11 with printer drivers version 4.0.1. The align function worked just fine.

Any suggestions about what to do to get "align" back?

Mac OS X (10.5.5)
