Where oh where did Chicago font go? (Panther 10.3.9)
All right, here I am setting up my newer old iBook that I got as replacement for my older, worn-out iBook and after I install my AppleWorks and dock up the Stickies utility, I cannot find Chicago font for either of them, my old iBook and my family's iMac at their house all run 10.3.9 as well yet they all have Chicago font on them, and I can't remember ever having to load Chicago font on them at all, ever. I poked around some more and Charcoal is not even there. FWIW, I really, really like the Chicago font ever since I seen it on the old Mac Pluses and Mac Classics from back in the 3rd grade, and I use it whenever I write documents and such. It is a nice font and really stands out above all the others, did they quit including Chicago font once Apple made the jump from OS 9 to OS X? I wonder this because all the other computers besides my new old iBook all have the Classic emulation installed, although Chicago is 100% available in Panther mode on those other Macs I have. Do I have to download Chicago to get it, or can I sneak it in from the Classic install disc (if only I knew where I kept it, I just moved a few months ago so it could be anywhere in my stuff) ?
iBook G3 800 mHz (Dual USB) 640 MB RAM and iBook G3 500 mHz/256MB RAM,
Mac OS X (10.3.x),
iMac G3 w/1 GB RAM, Clearwire @786kbps, Panther 10.3.9
Chicago lives in System Folder/Fonts on machines which have Classic installed. You can just copy it from one of your other machines and place in (hard disk)/Library/Fonts and it will be available to any programs which start subsequently.
Could I crib just the font files I want from one of my Classic-installed Macs, or does it require the entire Classic install to become available in OS X?
Splendid! I only use Classic for but 2 programs anyway. It collects dust most of the time otherwise. I will just copy the font across to the new iBook.
