In Vista, I have to use 3 fingers and press down (not tap) the touchpad.
The only reason I figured this out is I read it in a forum.

(if you run vista as a vm in fusion 2-finger tap works fine)

I have not figured out how to right-click-drag (for example, if you want to copy an icon to the taskbar startmenu) in vista. (i have had some trouble draging in macos with it also)

Also, if I highlight text in vista with the touchpad, it does not stay highlighted when I unpress the touchpad.

i have also have trouble with the cursor jumping around when I am typing in a textbox like this one, i think it is because the touchpad is so large my palms glance it while typing and throw the cursor.

I totally agree!
I got a the new unibody Macbook with Leopoard and Vista Business. The Trackpad works more or less good in Leopard but when it comes to vista it just s *s.... I can't mark things.... Right-Click doesnt work properly, too. Plus when I scroll down anything it jupms around and around.... It really is not working.
Why are they not just offering "standard-compatibilty". I would like to see the follwoing (which shoulnt be too hard):
Define a space on the trackpad as right click (bottom right corner + "click") and one for the left click (bottom left corner + "click"). Just as it is in Leopard!!! then scroll down and up when having the finger on the very right side.... and left to right when it is on the bottom side.... and tapping the touchpad anywhere should bring up a click as well.... just that easy!!! APPLE, please! Tapping with 3 fingers isnt an option!

This is far from an ideal solution, but I've just discovered that shift-F10 is the old-school windows keyboard equivalent of a right-click. On my MacBook, the F10 key is by default the designated mute button, so to override this I have to press fn-shift-F10. Awkward, but seems to work.

I just talked to an AppleCare specialist who said that this was a "Vista issue," and as such not Apple's problem. I understand this on one level, but if you're gonna sell a computer that includes both a fancy new buttonless trackpad AND a program specifically designed for installing Windows on said computer, you'd think they'd make sure the basic interface works.

That's a nice pat answer they like to use but it's simply not true. This is not a Vista issue. This is a Vista OEM driver issue. Apple is the OEM and therefore it is Apple's responsibility to provide and support their own drivers. I can accept that Apple doesn't want to provide Windows technical support and that's fine. If you buy a retail version of Windows you can get support from Microsoft. But Apple does need to support their Windows drivers. If they don't want to do that, they should pull Bootcamp from their OS and stop advertising their machines as Windows compatible.
