Logic freezes (spinning wheel of death) when in loop browser...

When I try to click on different loops (that came with Logic) in the loop browser I occasionally get an audible, "dunt"....and then the spinning wheel of death. I mostly happens when I click on a sample while another sample is currently playing. I have to force quit Logic and I send this error report to Apple:

Date/Time: 2008-10-17 15:55:36 -0400
OS Version: 10.5.5 (Build 9F33)
Architecture: i386

Command: Logic Pro

Parent: launchd [114]

PID: 316

+ much more jargon that is too lengthy to put in this message.
Any thoughts??? I have sent this error report probably 30+ times already.

Thanks people

Hi Timmy,

How long have you waited for the BBoD to disappear? Sometimes you just have to be patient.
It might help to reindex your loops. Remove all the index files from the various Apple Loops Index folders (in Library/Audio and in Users/'you'/Library/Audio and others - use Spotlight to find them all.)

regards, Erik.

Hi Timmy,

No, I do not mean that. No need to create any folder.
You should first establish where your all your loops are, then delete the index files from the accompanying *Apple Loops Index* folders (they're text files).
this are the default Apple Loops locations:
YourHD/Library/Audio
YourHD/Users/'you'/Library/Audio
YourHD/Library/Application Support/Logic
YourHD/Library/Application Support/Garageband

After deleting those index files, you open Logic>Loop Browser and you drag the *folders that contain the loops* onto the browser and wait patiently until Logic has made new indices. Can take 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of loops and the power of your Mac.

regards, Erik.

They ought to be alongside the index folders, in the various folders paths I gave two msgs earlier (You get this view, the +list view+, by doubleclicking your HD and hitting ⌘2 or chosing 'as List' from the Finders' View menu)
This is one of them, 'YourHD'/Library/Audio.

Obviously the folder you need here is the 'Apple Loops' folder. You could also use spotlight to find the folders, by simply looking for "apple loops" ( with the quotemarks) and, after inspection (do they contain loops or folders containing loops?), dragging the so found folders onto the Loops browser.

regards, Erik.

OK, I think that worked. I've been clicking on everything, really fast, one after and other and no lockups yet. Thanks a million.
The only folders I dragged back into the browser was "apple loops" and "apple loops for garage band". The only one I haven't dropped in is "apple loops for soundtrack pro", but that's because they seem to be in there. Maybe they're in the apple loops folder too? I don't know.

Thanks again!!!!
